The tax department will have your number, real fast.
Second of all, Denmark is a very non-hierarchal society, very flat structure.
I think it’s fair enough to say most women will prefer a man with a steady job, but saying you have a top management position just means that you have to spend a lot of time working and not as much time with your family and friends. So instead, if you want to impress a Danish woman, talk about how your work benefits society at large, particularly how it benefits people who don’t have a lot of resources.
For example, there are a lot of foreign engineers in Denmark.
Fundraisers call people who give large donations, Philanthropists, High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs), and Major Donors.
The art is to build a relationship to the point where the individual wants to make a difference through a donation (or ‘gift’) significant enough that it reflects their personal commitment.
For example, check out how the local guys your age have their hair cut, and what they’re wearing.
I’ve seen foreign guys in nightclubs with tight business shirts and shiny business shoes on, and they’re getting nowhere. It’s actually not necessary at all, but if you insist, use a very, very light touch.
And you need to be prepared that, out of four prospects, you will get only one donation at ‘ask’. Keep in touch Update your prospects on progress (both those who have given and those who have not). And prepare opportunities for those who did not give to see other aspects of your work that they may be more interested in.
It may be religious or altruistic motivation, a social conscience.
They may have a personal association with the cause.
There may be ‘prospects’ in your networks and trustee contacts; they may live in your local area, or are known to have interest in the sector. The more you find, the better ways you will identify how to approach them. And your approach to them must be relevant and interesting. They need to be confident their money will be spent well. Thank the donor Your systems must alert you the day a donation comes in.
Have a plan Develop a plan for each prospect (and for your ‘campaign’). You want their involvement and support, and you should know by now what they will be interested in, and what sum will be appropriate to them. Thank them immediately, the same day, if you want the individual to donate again in the future.
